Chouchou x Benoît Castel Three Kings' Cake

Three Kings' Day in Paris: The exclusive Galette des Rois from Le Chouchou, created by Benoît Castel

On Three Kings’ Day, Le Chouchou emphasizes its identity more than ever: Here, you can enjoy the Galette des Rois exclusively at Le Chouchou, this quintessentially French restaurant with the charm of an urban guinguette in Paris’s 9th arrondissement—in a lively and warm atmosphere that’s true to the restaurant’s spirit. Just a stone’s throw from the Opéra Garnier, between the Madeleine and the major department stores (Galeries Lafayette and Printemps), Le Chouchou has established itself as an essential meeting place. To celebrate this iconic January tradition, Le Chouchou is drawing on the expertise of Benoît Castel, who has created an exclusive Galette des Rois designed specifically for the hotel.

Throughout January, Le Chouchou will serve the Galette des Rois every weekend at brunch. Takeout is not available: this creation is meant to be shared on-site at the large tables under the light-filled glass roof.

Benoît's Galette des Rois stays true to tradition. It is made using an inverted puff pastry technique, a complex process in which the dough is layered with butter. The result: a crispier, lighter, and more melt-in-your-mouth galette.

A woman with long hair is painting small clay pieces at a wooden table, with brushes nearby.

Inside, the frangipane impresses with its rich and creamy texture—a blend of almond cream and vanilla from Madagascar. An authentic and delicious recipe you won't find anywhere else.

To complement this exclusive Galette des Rois, each slice contains a handcrafted figurine by ceramic artist Flore Faucheux. Eight hand-sculpted designs, created as true collector’s items, make for the perfect Three Kings’ Day experience at Le Chouchou.

True to its playful spirit, Le Chouchou has added a surprise to the tradition: a prize figurine shaped like a roast chicken. The lucky finder wins a night’s stay in a hotel suite, including brunch. It’s the perfect way to extend the Chouchou experience.
